EXPLORING MANCHESTER!

The weekend before last I was out & about exploring Manchester! It was The Manchester weekender so off we went to discover some art, pubs and grub! The journey started at St Peter's Square where we went to the Cube gallery to see the last show before it shut, which is a real shame as it's quite a nice space. We then strolled to Castlefield Gallery, we didn't take much away from either of these exhibits which probably seems a bit pointless to mention them in this post really! We then went past The Gas Lamp pub and what I call the pineapple! It's real name is The Liars Club but it has a wonderful neon sign of a pineapple outside it! (Both great places to drink, get a flaming zombie at "The Pineapple!").

Then for some lunch at Home Sweet Home. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes, food, cake, drinks, it's brill! After we went to the Oklahoma Cafe which is just around the corner, it's a great shop and nice just to have a stroll around! I haven't had any of the grub here yet but if it's as good as it's shop it should be top nosh!

Next we went to visit the new national football museum which has taken over from the Urbis gallery. It's quite a shame as Urbis was a great venue but if you're into football then it's been worthwhile! Next onto Manchester Art Gallery, which from tomorrow will be exhibiting Grayson Perry's 6 absolutely wonderful tapestries The Vanity of Small Differences. I really recommend seeing these and watching the tv series, In The Best Possible Taste which he did to create these pieces.

Whilst this is the bulk of my first exploration of Manchester, we did pop into a couple of other places along the way. I do apologise for not having photos but hopefully you'll be inspired to go out and get your own! Enjoy!
